Decorating On A Budget
Decorating is probably one of my absolute favorite things to do. I am constantly redecorating and changing up the vibe of my room to feel refreshed and newly motivated. That being said, decorating can be really unnecessarily expensive. Why do such small objects cost so much??? Even candles are rising to the $30 range now, which to me is crazy.
Decorating on a budget doesn’t have to be gross and your apartment certainly does not need to be empty. Here’s a few tips for decorating on a budget!
The dollar store is one of my favorite places to get inexpensive yet effective things. My local dollar store actually carries mason jars, which is absolutely amazing! Sometimes they even sell them for 2/$1 and mason jars are great for so many things! Dollar stores also carry things like candles, vases, picture frames, etc. which is a great way to save money and get a lot of decor!
Family and friends
Ask if your family and/or friends have anything they’re looking to donate or get rid of. I bet you they do!
Furniture / mirrors / miscellaneous items being thrown out
Around me at least, it seems like there is always someone giving away a ton of furniture and other items by leaving them out on their lawn, or even throwing them out.
While sometimes the furniture might be worn down and gross, other times it’s in perfect condition and will save you some money while being more eco-friendly and resourceful.
Goodwill or other thrift stores
Thrift stores, contrary to popular belief, have way more than clothing items. Many thrift stores have things like household items and even furniture / decor pieces.
The best time to shop is after any holiday when there’s a huge sale. For example, the day after Christmas, you can stock up on decor, wrapping, etc. at 50%+ off! Bath and Body Works has a few sales throughout the year where you can stock up on candles! Target has a huge end of season sale at the end of the year right after Christmas! Bed Bath and Beyond accepts expired coupons! I generally don’t make a purchase without looking for a sale or coupon of any kind because if you can find a deal, why not!
I will often generally search an item on Google because by doing that I can see the different stores that carry that item and find the best price!
